Perfection on a stick.... with cheese

Today we went for Abby's nine month checkup at the pediatrician's office. We were pleased to learn that our little one is doing wonderful! She is 18 lbs. 12 oz. which is about the 50th percentile. She is 29 inches long making her a whopping 95th percentile, and 90th percentile for a head size of 18 inches. She's still our tall, skinny girl. In related news, she is going to three meals a day with snacks. He said we could even start giving her some cheese. Who knew?!? Well, besides all of the other moms and dads out there. She still isn't that interested in juice or water, but we are making some headway in that area at least. All in all, Dr. Worley seemed very pleased with her progress. She talked his ear off and sang a couple of "songs."

Abby still having fun with Daddy nine months later!

Sorry for the short post. I am pretty busy these days chasing Abby around and trying to protect/rescue Phoebe, who apparently doesn't understand that she can walk away from Abby. :)

Busy Week

Abby has had a pretty busy week, and we really haven't done a whole lot. There's just a whole new world for her to explore. She is making from room to room quite well (see video below). Her upper teeth are starting to come through. You can barely see them, but they are poking through. Other than that, we have been having fun keeping up with her. She is pulling up and very independent. It is bittersweet. Nonetheless, we love seeing her learn and explore. Here are some of our recent adventures.

Here Kitty, Kitty.

Phoebe was trying to hide from Abby, but our little girl is too smart!
Don't worry. Neither Abby nor Phoebe were hurt.

Crawling on the linoleum can be tricky!

But getting to play games with Mommy and Daddy
makes it totally worth it. Here she plays a favorite,
peek-a-boo, from the kitchen.

Phoebe is glad that we set up some boundaries
during the day.

"Now I can pick my own toys, Mommy!"
Here she chews on the Incredible Hulk
toy Steve got for Christmas.

We were so excited to be invited over for a play date
with the Harris quads! They seemed to think Abby was
loads more fun now that she is mobile.

She and Reagan were even able to get some quality
girl time in during the visit.

When asked if he liked going shopping and to the
Olive Garden with the girls,
Ben seemed less than pleased. However, he was
all smiles after the camera was put away.
He's such a sweetie!!

While Aunt Tiffany and Mommy enjoyed soup, salad, and
bread sticks, Abby tried out her new sippy cup and some
zwieback toast.

Believe it or not, she is actually napping here.
I tried to move her, but she kept going back to this position.
I settled for listening to her breath through the monitor.

Can you believe that it might actually snow tomorrow!!!!
We are SO excited!

That is just a taste of our latest adventures. For example, while preparing this post, she tried to crawl behind the couch and had to be pulled out at the last minute before she got stuck! She will be 9 months old on Tuesday. (Hard to believe, isn't it?) We go to the doc for a check-up on Thursday. Pray for her because she will have to get blood drawn to check her iron levels. I will post an update on weight (approx. 1 ton now) and height (approx. 6 feet) and all of that kind of stuff when we get back. Until then, have a great week and Let It SNOW!

A small glimpse into our new world

This video has a little bit of everything. . . playing, talking, and "crawling"!! This is how Abby and I spend much of our day. Hope you enjoy!

Belated Christmas Fun

We very much enjoyed our first Christmas with Abby. It was busy and full of loved ones! It turns out that Abby's favorite part was not the boxes as we thought. The tags were her favorite part of the packages. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a special Christmas.

Here is how the whole thing happened:

On Christmas Eve Eve we started with a trip to church that
apparently wore out Abby.

Then, we went to Uncle Tim, Aunt Debbie, and TJ's
to have a feast and open presents. Here TJ and Abby
play Santa.

After presents, it was time to play. Abby was
in charge of the grenades in the battle of Daddy vs. TJ.

Here she is with a bag of toys and a tag!
(Notice what she is playing with.)

Uncle Tim and Aunt Debbie's living room
had lots of space to crawl around.

On Christmas Eve, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for
dinner and presents. Abby loved her big green bow.
The present was nice, too.

She is the third generation to sit in this high chair.

Her outfit made it a little slick, so we had to
put a non-slip pad under her. It worked great!

All of the excitement really got to her. She decided
to get an early nap so she could watch for Santa later.

On Christmas Day, Santa had arrived and brought a
toy box. She is also the third generation to use this.
Her Great Grandpa Jerry built this footlocker for
her Great Aunt Kathy. Grandma then used it when she was
a camp counselor. Then, Steve used it for a toy box. We re-painted it
and put some girly decals on it for her.

Here, she and Daddy play with some Christmas treats.

After Daddy got his present from the box, she was
more than happy to use it to play in for awhile

We had to put the box away for awhile because Uncle Tom
came over with Ethan, Aleigh, and Mathew for traditional
Christmas sausage balls. We were also treated by a visit
from Mamaw and Hal.

After breakfast, it was off to the races, so to speak.
We headed to Bristol for a late lunch with Granny,
Grandma, and Grandpa. . .

and Phil, who enjoyed the pile
of paper very much.

Abby had lots of fun playing with Grandpa!

Then, it was back home to play with the
Christmas loot!

Talk about one tired baby at the end of the day.

The next day, Uncle Jared came for a visit.
It was great to see him.

Abby even dressed up for him to take her out to eat.

Daddy, Can I have a steak?

On Saturday after Christmas, we went to Georgia to
see Granny White and had lots of fun visiting.

Uncle Kenneth and Aunt Paula couldn't believe how
much she had grown!

As you can tell, we had a very busy Christmas, but it was fun. We have recovered and are getting back to normal. Abby is, as I type, in the floor playing with her new toys and practicing her her crawling. She is growing so fast. I will try to get some video of her crawling efforts and her saying her new word. She says "bye bye." We are pretty sure she hasn't a clue as to what it means because she says it all the time, even when someone has just come in to the room.

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Please keep in touch. Leave comments! We love to hear from you!
